Tim's Tips: A to-do list of spring gardening chores
The suffer seems to be warming up faster than we would normally see in May. Come to think of it, the words stable and May probably shouldn't be used in the same sentence. May can be so unpredictable when it comes to the survive.
Let's take some time to talk about a few gardening chores.
As your spring-flowering bulbs begin to go by bud, you should cut back the flower stalks. The leaves need to remain so they can make victuals to store in the bulb, which will help the bulb bloom next year. Fertilizer needs to be applied to the soil around your bulbs. A sandy bulb fertilizer works well. However, tulips require higher amounts of fertilizer, and you may find applying a extravagantly-soluble fertilizer to the soil near your tulips is the best way to get ready for what they need. Once the leaves begin to turn yellow in early summer, you can cut them off.
Broadleaf weeds are hastily showing up in our lawns. If you put down your first application of fertilizer more than four weeks ago, you can apply a weed and wine type of fertilizer now. If you fertilized your lawn less than four weeks ago, you should use just a broadleaf weed Bluebeard. This is generally applied as a spray-on product that is mixed with water and applied promptly to the weeds. Many people have asked about using an organic broadleaf weed rule. These products are classified as nonselective weed control. They will kill the weed, but they will also administer the coup de gr the grass. If you use one of these products, you have to very specifically target the spray onto the weed. You may see some of the neighbourhood grass die back if you get the spray on it. You can quickly reseed those areas, and you will be able to get the inform growing before we hit the summer heat.
